You were my talisman

Your smile was infectious
It dazzled the room,
Eyes sparkling like emeralds
Your touch made meadows bloom.

When the spring blossoms
I will think of you.

You were strong and defiant
The world bent to your will,
Your laughter contagious
Feeding our hearts with a refill.

When the sunlight warms my skin
I will think of you.

You were kind and giving
With an insatiable appetite to aid,
Wishing me luck in every endeavour
Even as your own life fades.

When I look at the colourful displays of ice cream
I will think of you.

In memory of a dear friend.
