A cunning brother

Anna shivered. She heard a hushed whisper, a broken laugh then the clatter of cutlery. No! It couldn’t be.

“Jake I swear if you’ve touched them!” She ran, pelting it down the stairs so quickly she should have fallen.

“You snooze you lose!” He roared in a battle cry, escaping her clutches and flying through the kitchen door.

“Get back here!” But, he’d already gone, disappearing into the crisp winds outside. With a growl, she ran out of the house in only her pyjamas. Her legs froze, hairs standing to attention as she scoured the outside. Nothing. Anna went back into the house, slowly making her way to her freshly baked cakes. They were gone. Not even a crumb left.
