A naiad’s call

Come to the river
Hear my call,
Toes dipped in the edge
Are you that eager to fall?

Come to the river
Ease your mind,
Breathe in my clear scent
Until your eyes turn blind.

Come to the river
Splashes overlapping the edge,
Droplets falling against your ears
Whispering for you to ease off the ledge.

Come to the river
The water once clear,
Now opaque with a red hint
The river is coloured with fear.
