The air was strung with power, each step taking too long to achieve. Could she make it? Heart hammering again her chest, she pushed forward, breath coming in gasps. Shadows leapt against the grass from the intimidating trees, mocking her futile attempt. The crunching of fallen leaves gave her pace, a rhythm to chain time from slipping away. Reality was already too far behind, she could all but taste the world she so desperately wanted to reach.
A barrage of sound assaulted her ears. Music waving against the forest, light sneaking through trunks that were determined to deter her gaze. Leaning forward she snuck between the trees, her gasp inaudible against the fantasy ahead.
