A suprise gift

He holds the bundle tight,
Sweat dripping from his pores
For he is no knight.
The petals kiss his skin,
Hearing rumbling from inside
He plasters on a hopeful grin.

Not trained in combat or the like,
The door slowly creaks open
And he prepares in case of dislike.
The woman stares in disbelief,
Eyes the size of saucers
She exhales with relief.

His eyes downcast his hands push out,
Bundle accepted gently
He avoids her eyes in doubt.
The woman speaks,
Her voice soothing his fear
She kisses him on his cheeks.

“They are beautiful”

Daily post nervous.
