It can also tremble

It Lurks.
Thin dark legs, hunched over in wait,
Eager to pounce
To stretch its splintered eight.

So silently it sits,
Observing the masses
That try its patience and wit.

A dark glimmer as it moves,
Going back and forth
As if dancing to a unique groove.

You try with all your might,
Up onto the tips of your toes
Rambling for its height.

Nearer it comes,
Feinting left and right
Your body is numb.

Frightened form collects into a ball,
Silently you hold it
Moving through the hall.
Chill from the now open door,
You offer it an escape.

It trembles
